I have tried to be very organized in this. In appendices # 1 and # 2, I have given the pertinent links and comments, etc.

In all of my looking, I only found two that would work with Windows 98: Multi Virus Cleaner 2009 (v9.0.1) and Dr.WEB CureIt! 6.00.2. The majority of my time was spent looking for stand alone virus scanners (and variations of these words) through Google. These scanners will be very useful to me. I also found, through Google, other similar separate-file scanners.

Virus Total would be very useful in scanning e-mail attachments, etc., while DrWeb would be useful in checking out free program downloads. No maximum file sizes were given for DrWeb Online Scan, so I tried it with an 85 MB file, and it worked great. I tried it with an 8 MB file and then with a 15 MB file and it worked great both times - very fast, with results being shown for each AV scanner. It mentioned Virus Total (10 MB file size max) which scans using 42 top-notch AV engines.

I didn't know such a service existed on the internet. However, your link was very useful in the part about "Online Virus Scans for Separate Files". (If the publisher's link did not give system requirements, I Googled until I found them.) I haven't responded earlier, because I have spent every spare moment checking out the above link and many, many more Google variations of "stand alone virus scanner".Ĭoncerning your link, none of the free online virus scanners worked with Windows 98. I'm going to give you a link that I didn't get time to finish looking at, see if you can find anything that would work. In your post 71 from a week ago, you said: To prevent posting problems, I'm submitting this as three messages: one for the main text and two more for appendices # 1 and # 2. Be sure to have the SP3 on it since MS is going to support it until April 2014!! Just think larry, one of these days my XP is going to turn into a Win98!! LOL Maybe one of these days (soon) you can find an XP system.

I think with all of your hard work, you most likely have the best version of FP with the limitations of the OS. I'm glad you have FP on all of your browsers and they are working. Well, we are going to have to wrap this thread up, it is getting way too long and hard to navigate. That is my take on that:-) I'm too busy to be asked for permission for something I wouldn't give anyway. Any site that would require that I don't need to visit, I always deny, since there is point in asking me. On the sites that want access to the microphone and camera, no that is not a requirement. On the hardware acceleration from what I have read here, there are system requirements that apply as well. I'm sure if it was that would have been listed and since the version 9.0.115.0 was then that tells me that is the oldest. Hi larry, On the third party content or storing data on the computer I don't know if that is available for your version of FP.
